Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the thematic narratives of authenticity search and the impact of beauty norms in the movie "Uglies" (2024) by Scott Westerfeld. This research uses qualitative methods, because qualitative methods concentrate on examining the movie's substance, they are employed. The research will explore how social pressure and imposed beauty can shape, but also limit, individual identity. The analysis will explore the relationships between characters that affect the process, including the dynamics of friendships and emerging conflicts. Through the journey of the character Tally Youngblood, this movie shows how the social pressures and unrealistic standards of beauty can define, but not limit, individuals' identity.
