Abstract

Song lyrics are a form of literary work that contain aesthetic elements and deep meanings, conveyed through distinctive and stylistic language. This study aims to analyze the language style found in the lyrics of the song 'Mangu' by Fourtwnty and examine the meanings contained within it through a stylistic approach. The song 'Mangu' was chosen because it contains the use of figurative language that reflects feelings, personal experiences, and social realities expressed poetically. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a stylistic approach to identify and classify the language styles used in the song lyrics. Data collection techniques are carried out using listening and note-taking techniques. The author directly observes, examines, and gathers data available on the YouTube platform. The data analysis in this study uses qualitative data analysis, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The data in this study consists of words or sentences containing language styles, while the source of the data is the lyrics of the song 'Mangu' by Fourtwnty. The results of the study found various types of language styles in the song 'Mangu' by Fourtwnty, including comparison (metaphor, personification, antithesis), contradiction (paradox, hyperbole, litotes, oxymoron), connection (allusion), and repetition (alliteration, assonance, antanaclasis). These language styles are used to convey deeper and more poetic meanings. Overall, this song depicts the inner conflict of a character who must accept a separation due to differences in belief. Through figurative expressions, this song conveys sadness, confusion, and the process of coming to terms with an unchangeable reality.
