This inaugural issue of Imperium: Journal of Education and Reviews (Vol. 1 No. 1, 2026) presents six original research articles spanning education, language, and literacy studies. The issue includes studies on expository learning methods, reading and writing literacy among elementary students, directive speech acts in the classroom, local wisdom-based pop-up books for descriptive writing, the phonemic analysis of the Sawiat language, and the use of slang among university students. Together, these articles reflect the journal's focus on learning innovation, language and literacy studies, and local wisdom-based education in the eastern Indonesia context.
