Abstract

This research aims to understand the implementation of the asy-Syafi'i method in enhancing the Quranic reading abilities of third-grade santris at SD Tahfidzul Quran Cahaya Islam Papua and to identify the factors that influence their reading abilities, both supportive and hindering factors. The research conducted is qualitative in nature, with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. Informants in this research include the school principal, asy-Syafi'i method teachers, third-grade santris, and the parents of third-grade santris. The results of the research show that the implementation of the asy-Syafi'i method involves dividing the santris into two groups guided by ustadz, providing material explanations in each session, offering support to santris who need it, and conducting daily evaluations. Supporting factors include teacher perception standardization through technical guidelines, teacher mentoring, asy-Syafi'i method books, santris abilities, and parental support. On the other hand, hindering factors involve time constraints, student play interests, classroom management limitations by teachers, and classroom cleanliness issues
